1 Introduction

Welcome to UnitedLane. These terms and conditions govern your use of our chauffeur services. By making a booking with us, you agree to be bound by these terms.

UnitedLane is a private hire chauffeur service operating in Edinburgh and throughout Scotland. We are committed to providing safe, reliable, and professional transportation services.

2 Bookings

2.1 Making a Booking: Bookings can be made via our website, by telephone, or by email. All bookings are subject to availability and confirmation.

2.2 Confirmation: A booking is only confirmed once you receive a confirmation from us. This may be via email, SMS, or telephone.

2.3 Accuracy of Information: You are responsible for providing accurate booking information including:

  • Pick-up and drop-off addresses
  • Date and time of travel
  • Number of passengers
  • Luggage requirements
  • Any special requirements or requests

2.4 Airport Transfers: For airport pickups, we monitor flight arrivals and adjust pickup times accordingly. Please provide your flight number when booking.

3 Pricing & Payment

3.1 Quoted Prices: All prices quoted are inclusive of VAT unless otherwise stated. Quotes are valid for 7 days from the date of issue.

3.2 Additional Charges: Additional charges may apply for:

  • Waiting time beyond the free waiting period
  • Additional stops not included in the original booking
  • Child seats or special equipment
  • Meet and greet services
  • Tolls, parking fees, or congestion charges

3.3 Payment Methods: We accept payment by credit/debit card, bank transfer, and cash. Corporate accounts are available upon application.

3.4 Payment Timing: Payment is due upon completion of the journey unless alternative arrangements have been agreed in advance.

4 Cancellation Policy

4.1 Cancellation by Customer:

  • Cancellations made more than 24 hours before pickup: No charge
  • Cancellations made 12-24 hours before pickup: 50% of fare
  • Cancellations made less than 12 hours before pickup: 100% of fare
  • No-shows: 100% of fare

4.2 Cancellation by Us: In the unlikely event that we need to cancel a booking, we will provide as much notice as possible and offer a full refund or alternative arrangement.

4.3 Force Majeure: We shall not be liable for any failure to perform our obligations due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to severe weather, road closures, or other unforeseen events.

5 Passenger Responsibilities

5.1 Conduct: Passengers are expected to behave in a respectful and appropriate manner. We reserve the right to terminate a journey if a passenger's behaviour is threatening, abusive, or inappropriate.

5.2 Vehicle Care: Passengers are responsible for any damage caused to the vehicle during their journey. A cleaning fee may apply for excessive soiling.

5.3 Seatbelts: All passengers must wear seatbelts as required by law. Child seats are available upon request.

5.4 Smoking: Smoking (including e-cigarettes) is not permitted in our vehicles.

5.5 Alcohol: Consumption of alcohol in the vehicle is at the discretion of the chauffeur. Excessive intoxication may result in refusal of service.

5.6 Lost Property: While we will make reasonable efforts to return lost property, we cannot guarantee its recovery. Please check the vehicle before exiting.

6 Liability

6.1 Insurance: All our vehicles are fully insured for private hire purposes.

6.2 Limitation of Liability: Our liability for any loss or damage arising from our services is limited to the fare paid for the journey, except in cases of personal injury caused by our negligence.

6.3 Luggage: Luggage is carried at the owner's risk. We recommend keeping valuables with you at all times.

6.4 Delays: While we strive for punctuality, we cannot be held liable for delays caused by traffic, weather, or other factors beyond our control.

7 Complaints

We take all complaints seriously and aim to resolve them promptly. If you have a complaint about our service, please contact us within 7 days of your journey.

We aim to acknowledge all complaints within 24 hours and provide a full response within 7 working days.

8 Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to update these terms and conditions at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting on our website. We encourage you to review these terms periodically.

These terms are governed by the laws of Scotland. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.
